The history of the GA and many of its Presidents is closely tied to Oxford University of course, where the association was founded.
However, there are also strong links with the University of Cambridge.
I've been fortunate to have a connection with Homerton College, going back to the days of Rex Walford, and also spent time at Sidney Sussex before, as well as teaching several students who went on to study Geography there, and more who studied other subjects.
The 100th Anniversary of Geography at Cambridge has been marked by a publication which is a free PDF download.
This is well worth reading, and has plenty of interesting details on some GA Presidents who were associated with the department.
Frank Debenham was the first Professor of Geography at the University. He has a very lengthy entry which will be posted sometime next year on the current posting schedule.
Professor J A Steers followed him - another GA President who is an expert in his particular field.
This magazine is well worth reading, as it gives an insight into early fieldwork and pedagogies.
