Michael was GA President in 1988 - the year I started teaching. I referred to his work in my GA Presidential lecture. It's worth reading this entry to find out more about him - he did a great deal for the discipline and also the association.
I drew on his idea of "professional zest" several times.
Other memories of Michael are welcome, as indeed they are for any other past President.
